NWBLT MEMBERS PLEDGE TO DRIVE CHANGE

Dear Diversity Drivers,

You were appointed just a few months ago by your business as a future leader who could help to drive the change we want to see across the North West Business Leadership Team. This was in response to the murder of George Floyd and the desire so many of us felt to make a difference – for good.

Once again, we find ourselves appalled by racism in society as a result of the racial abuse suffered by the brilliant English young black footballers who played with three lions on their chests and another in their hearts.

However, we are full of hope and determination, not just because of the brilliant response from across our region that has challenged the racists, but because of you.  You have shared your powerful and moving stories with us, and as a group devised the Pledge that will help us to make good on our intentions.

We want to ensure that all of your efforts lead to change and to an increase in racial and ethnic diversity across the senior leadership of the North West. Together we want create an inclusive culture in which talent from all our communities can thrive.

Thank you so much for you work on this which, members of the North West Business Leadership Team will publicly sign up to:

I will be accountable to my fellow NWBLT members on an annual basis for the following pledges:-

  • My management team and I will have a zero tolerance approach to racial discrimination, harassment and bullying.
  • I will be actively anti-racist and an ally to racially minoritised groups.
  • I will take steps to ensure that racially minoritised groups are represented at all the tables that I can influence.
  • I will create safe spaces to speak.

You have achieved so much already – we in turn pledge to deliver on our promises to you. This is just the beginning of our work together, you all make us proud.
