The NWBLT were delighted to support the Ripples of Hope Festival 2021 which took place over five days in September at HOME in Manchester. The Festival organised by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Centre, invited people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and consider common challenges, celebrate the power of people and explore actions that could make human rights a reality across the globe.

The one day Business and Investment Summit took place on 15 September, sponsored by NWBLT, featuring many inspirational speakers including NWBLT’s Chair Jonathan Murphy (CEO at Assura PLC) on a panel with Amy Clarke, Kenny Imafidon and Shaini Arora facilitated by Mac Macartney. They spoke about a regenerative future, responsible investments and how we build fairer and more sustainable communities.

Following on from the afternoon workshops two NWBLT Diversity Drivers were asked to the main stage to report back from their sessions. The breakouts looked at a variety of different topics including engaging with partners, staff, community and places and the regenerative journey for businesses.

In the evening following on from the Summit was candid, far-reaching conversation with Secretary Clinton (on Zoom) and Baroness Kennedy (on stage at HOME). They explored the human rights progress we’ve made; they challenges we must overcome; as well as what Secretary Clinton has learned in her extraordinary life about the power of people to create change; the nature of leadership; and the meaning of hope.
