The North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT) is pleased to announce Martin Jones MBE of Home Instead UK and Gill Newman of Lloyds Bank as the organisation’s latest members.

As the CEO of Home Instead UK and International, Jones is responsible for leading the homecare provider’s entire UK operations and its 500 plus franchised offices in several international markets. Together, these enable thousands of elderly people to live a more independent life in their own homes, with support ranging from companionship to specialised care.

Awarded the MBE for services to older people in the 2023 New Year Honours List, Jones is also chair of The Care Workers’ Charity, a member of the Age UK board as well as former chair and now member of the Homecare Association’s board. He is also chair of the Home Instead’s UK charitable arm, Home Instead Charities.

Gill Newman is the Deputy Regional Director for Lloyds Bank’s North and Scotland regions. She leads a team of banking professionals which support businesses with turnovers from £25 million to £100 million to deliver their strategies and growth aspirations.

Gill’s team includes specialists in the field of working capital and trade, risk management, cash management and payments, corporate pensions and employee benefits, vehicle fleet services and private wealth management.

Commenting on his membership of the NWBLT, Martin Jones MBE said: “Providing job opportunities that are meaningful and which provide opportunities for additional training and upskilling so that we have an empowered care workforce is my passion.

“I am also an advocate for the needs of older people. My roles have enabled me to build strong links with the Department of Health and Social Care, Skills for Care and the International Longevity Centre. They allow me to champion the cause of home care and the role it plays in the health and social care ecosystem, and indeed to the economy of the region, it is in that spirit of collaboration that I join the NWBLT,” he added.

On her appointment as Lloyds Bank’s new representative within the NWBLT, Gill Newman said: “My banking career began in the North West and has since spanned three decades and senior leadership positions in domestic and international banking in four continents.

“However, Lancashire is mine and my family’s home. I love the region and its people and it is my privilege to support businesses here. I am looking forward to bringing my expertise and skills to the NWBLT,” she continued.

NWBLT chair Simone Peppi said: “We are delighted to welcome both Martin and Gill to our organisation of likeminded business leaders. Their expertise will bolster our team significantly as we seek to continue supporting the region’s economic growth.

“We are excited for their positive impact on our mission, as we continue driving innovation, collaboration and prosperity across the region,” she added.
