Mark is a solicitor, currently Office Managing Partner for DLA Piper’s NW Offices in Liverpool and Manchester. He was born and brought up on the Wirral. He studied law at Oxford University, graduating in 1982. He then trained and qualified at Linklaters in the City, returning to the North West for family reasons in 1989. Mark’s practice has been varied over the years, always with a property base but often with a twist. He wrote DLA Piper’s first PFI contract (for education developments in Northern Ireland), advised a number of Universities on VAT mitigation measures in relation to campus development, advised English Partnerships on the joint venture with LCC for the development and operation of the Liverpool Arena & Convention Centre and dealt with the confidential exit of Dutch REIT Wereldhave NV from the UK market. Other notable work includes advising Liverpool Football Club on their stadium and training ground redevelopments and TfGM in relation to the Trafford Park Metrolink extension. Other clients include major pension funds, local authorities, housebuilders and major corporates.
Away from the office, Mark is married to Karen, with two daughters, both now living in London, and a son studying law at University. He is a member of Royal Liverpool Golf Club and a season ticket holder at Anfield.
