Tony is Hill Dickinson's Senior Partner and Chairman of the LLP Board. Tony has two key and distinctive roles within Hill Dickinson: one as the business's ultimate leader in the development and implementation of its Strategic Direction, and one as the firm's external-facing client relationship executive responsible for the firm's growth, excellence in client service and identification of profitable new business opportunities.Tony first became Senior Partner in May 2001 and, under his direction, Hill Dickinson had had its 8th successive record year. In this time, Hill Dickinson has developed a strategic plan focused on “our clients and our people”, won an unprecedented number of new clients, gained appointment to some of the UK’s most prestigious legal panels, and effected a number of successful mergers. Today, Hill Dickinson is a leading UK legal business with over 1050 people, operating nationally out of four cities and with an international office in Greece; associate relationships are in place in Europe and the Far East to provide the firm and its clients with global coverage.Hill Dickinson’s leadership team operates out of Liverpool, the firm’s single largest office and home to its business infrastructure. Tony has spear-headed the firm’s development of landmark premises, St Paul’s Square, into which the majority of Liverpool-based people moved in December 2007.The firm’s success has been recognised through the award of the UK's Regional Law Firm of the Year 2005-6 by Legal Business, the North West Property Firm of the Year 2006-7 (Insider) and in the ever growing number of rankings in the Legal 500 Chambers directories, the “encyclopaedias” of the legal profession.As a lawyer, Tony is recognised as one of the UK’s leading experts in the Professional Indemnity arena acting on behalf of Solicitors and Veterinary Surgeons. He also remains highly regarded by Insurers in dealing with catastrophic injury claims.Tony was born in Liverpool, grew up in Mossley Hill and attended St Francis Xaviers College. He holds a LLB in Law from the University of Nottingham. He returned to his native Liverpool, joining Davis Campbell (now Hill Dickinson) where he trained, qualified and became a partner.As a senior figure in the North West business community, Tony is a member of the Northwest Business Leadership Team. He also holds the position of Company Secretary to the Board of the Liverpool Capital of Culture Company, which he will perform until its dissolution. Hill Dickinson held the position of Official Lawyers and first Official Partner to Liverpool 08: European Capital of Culture in a pioneering sponsorship and business arrangement and embodiment of the firm’s commitment to the region. Tony is a non Executive Board Member of Liverpool Vision and a Trustee of the Liverpool Biennial.Tony is married to Anne and has a daughter (aged 19) and twin sons (aged 15). He plays golf and tennis and enjoys family skiing holidays. Tony’s legal career has spanned many aspects of legal business. He started his career working in a branch office in County Road, Walton, doing crime and personal injury work. He was a regular attendee at the Vauxhall Law Centre which was a pioneering centre offering free legal advice to the community.During the 1980’s, Tony moved to the Liverpool City Centre office to continue his career in the Insurance Division. He became involved in Management and helped the firm grow despite the problems facing the City. He was Managing Partner between 1994 and 1998 when the firm expanded into Manchester, Chester and London. He became Senior Partner in 2001 and in December 2007 led the LLP to their new home at St Paul’s Square, Liverpool. It was always his ambition to create a national law firm with its Headquarters based in Liverpool.
