On 11 September NWBLT held one of its series of Business Briefings for the North West MPs at the House of Commons which was kindly sponsored by Manchester Airport and United Utilities. The lunch emphasised the positive contribution businesses make, not just to the economy, but to society as well. In addition, Professor Michael Dougan, from Liverpool University, presented the conclusions of our recent survey to identify the potential implications of various BREXIT options upon the North West. This was particularly timely as Members were voting on The Repeal Bill late that night.
The event was hosted by Chris Matheson MP (pictured left) – the Member for Chester City Centre. Andrew Cowan, the newly appointed Chief Executive of Manchester Airport spoke about the new developments and opportunities for trade at the Airport. Louise Beardmore from United Utilities gave a presentation on the work that they do supporting the communities of the North West.
A number of North West MPs attended the event including some who had been recently elected.
