One of the most important actions that needs to be taken to fill the skills gap in our region is to build areas of collaboration between educational establishments and businesses.
Mentoring is a fantastic way to ensure the necessary skills for young people need to be “work ready” are established at the outset of their careers’. Ensuring the transition between university to the workplace runs as smoothly as possible is for the benefit of the young person but also crucial for businesses to be able to extract the maximum business potential of their new employees.
Mentoring is a key component of a lot of the NWBLT’s work on skills and education work. That is why we are delighted to share with you this fantastic scheme underway by one of our member organisations, Manchester Metropolitan University. This scheme will perform a most crucial of role of linking businesses and universities while simultaneously improving the the standard of graduates entering the workforce.
