Operations Director and Deputy Managing Director
Andy Heath has worked in the rail industry for since 1987, starting his railway career as a graduate trainee based in Colchester in the Great Eastern region. After his initial 12 months training period he remained with Great Eastern where he held a number of supervisory and managerial Operational positions including his final position as Regional Traincrew Manager until 1998. In 1998 he joined Merseyrail as Trains Manager and was appointed Operations Director in 2005, where he is Professional Head of Operating Safety with overall responsibility for all aspects of operational delivery including train service performance, management of all Merseyrail Train crew as well compliance with Operational Safety Standards. A statutory director of the Merseyrail Electrics Board, he was appointed Deputy Managing director in 2012 and subsequently Managing Director in December 2017. Andy graduated from Salford University with a BSc Hons in Economics.
Merseyrail is an urban network of vital importance to the transport infrastructure of Liverpool and its environs, operating on the Wirral and Northern Lines within Merseyside.
