NWBLT and United Utilities host North West MPs

The Chairman of the North West Business Leadership Team, Paul Lee, and the Chief Executive of United Utilities, Philip Green, jointly hosted a New Parliament Reception at Lingley Mere, Warrington recently.

The event was addressed by prominent MPs from all the three main political parties, including the local Conservative MP for Warrington South, David Mowat; the Liberal Democrat Minister for Communities and Local Government, Andrew Stunell; and the Rt. Hon. Hazel Blears, former Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
Other North West MPs who spoke at the event included Louise Ellman (Liverpool Riverside), Bill Esterson (Sefton Central), Graham Evans (Weaver Vale), Yvonne Fovargue (Makerfield), Julie Hilling (Bolton West), Graham Jones (Hyndburn), Alison McGovern (Wirral South), Andrew Miller (Ellesmere Port and Neston) and John Pugh (Southport).
An open discussion took place regarding some of the key issues currently facing the North West, including the future organisation of local and regional economic development. Andrew Stunell confirmed that the Government will continue to consult with the business community, as well as the region’s local authorities, before bringing forward legislative proposals.
