NWBLT BRIEFING FOR GENERAL ELECTION CANDIDATES

On the day when the May 6 General Election was announced, NWBLT publicly issued a briefing to General Election candidates in the North West to work for the long-term prosperity of the region.

NWBLT emphasised to each of the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat candidates the vital importance of the region’s ‘big long-term issues’, such as education and training for the world of work, stimulating sustainable innovation and investing in improved rail links. NWBLT also emphasised the importance of the region’s political leaders promoting it as a good place to do business, emphasising its importance to the UK’s overall economic recovery and long-term prosperity.
Geoffrey Piper, NWBLT’s Chief Executive, called for candidates in this Election to ‘think ahead and focus on policies and actions which will make a valuable and lasting contribution to the region’s prosperity and living standards for generations to come.’
